Library Policies

Books are checked out for two weeks. Patrons may renew loans if books are not on hold by another patron.

Students can borrow books as long as they:

• haven’t reached their book limit

• have returned any books due on that day

• don’t have any overdue books

Fines are assigned for lost or damaged books and for books overdue more than 30 days. The fine amount is the cost of the book. Once a lost book is returned, the fine is removed. 

The checkout limit is one book at a time until a fine is resolved. This limit may change to two books at a time if the student returns books on time and in good condition for a couple of months. 

If a patron has multiple fines for books lost or damaged on separate occasions, no books can be checked out to that patron until one or more fines are resolved. 

A fine is assigned when a book is lost or damaged beyond repair. Fine payments are used to replace these lost or damaged books. 

There are several options for patrons when they are assigned a fine.

Replacement Options:

• Pay the fine online. You will need to know your username and password for Skyward Family Access. If you are a first-time user, you'll be able to create a password.
• Pay the fine at school. Please make checks payable to Edmonds School District or pay in cash in the exact amount. It may take a week or so for the payment to be reflected in your student's library account.
• Purchase a copy of the same book in new condition and drop it off at the school. You might be able to find the book at a cheaper price than the fine amount. Please include a note with your student's name so that the fine can be removed from the correct account.
